Celebrate Independence Day a Brand New Way – “Ta Da”

Independence Day weekend is the perfect time to begin celebrating your personal triumphs. You can pretend all those amazing fireworks are going off on the 4th just for you!

Begin the celebration by creating your very own “Ta Da” list. Most of us spend way more time thinking about what we haven’t done, than what we have done. It’s time to change all that.

Celebrating success builds confidence, which moves us forward faster and makes us happier along the way. I have been creating my personal “Ta Da” lists for decades and sharing “Ta Da” lists for you for almost as long. Completing a “Ta Da” list feels great and never fails to brighten my life. (Pausing and savoring each item on your list will increase the depth and joy they bring to you. It only takes 30-60 seconds to pause on an item and remember the details of the situation and how you felt when it happened. Let those good feelings flow throughout your mind and body. Repeat anytime you need a boost!)

The Wishful Thinking Works “Ta Da” list is fun, because it’s about all the wonderful things you’ve already accomplished, not things left to do! It is all about you!

Beginning your “Ta Da” list might seem a bit scary or intimidating, but once you get started your accomplishments and ideas will flow.

What have you achieved in the first half of 2023 that just a year ago seemed impossible or a distant possibility? (Feel free to include anything you have ever accomplished – this is the time to toot your horn.)

What new trails have you blazed? What have you found the strength to face? What promises have you kept? What have you learned – or relearned? What difficult phone calls or apologies have you made? What discoveries about yourself have you uncovered? What fun did you add to your life? What health, personal, or professional habits have you started or changed? What books have you read? What projects have you started or completed? What art or crafts have you created? What friendships have you made or repaired? What new groups have you joined? When did you stand-up for yourself or decide to forgive yourself or someone else? What vacations did you take or plan? Who did you cheer for or help? Who did you let go of for very good reasons?

What teeny, tiny or wondrously huge steps have you taken in the direction of your dreams? All of these things matter and need to be savored and celebrated!

Most of my “Ta Da” lists leave me amazed and so grateful for all I have done and all the goodness in my life. (I dig deep and count everything! Don’t discount anything you have done in the first 6 months of 2023. I am counting writing this post as one of my bright spots for 2023!) Other “Ta Da” lists were not so overflowing with accomplishments, but gave me direction for what I wanted to bring into my life or focus on next. Those lists led me to create new Vision Boards for myself, which always energizes and inspires me.

Begin with the Wishful Thinking Works “Ta Da” list below and then spread out. Use all the paper you need – the more the merrier – remember we are celebrating! You can also keep jotting things down in a journal. Think big, think amazing, think you!
